dillongeeLet’s take a look at what Mets fans are talking about this week:

SNY has hired former Mets pitcher Nelson Figueroa as studio analyst, replacing fan-favorite Bobby Ojeda, Amazin Avenue notes. Figueroa, who played for the team for two seasons from 2008-09 sounds thrilled to get the job.

Pitcher Dillon Gee is coming to Spring Training in the tough position of one of 6 starting pitchers competing for 5 spots, the NY Post reports. Gee says he is at the Mets’ mercy and will give it his all this spring.

The Yankees have announced their plans to retire the numbers of Andy Pettitte,  Jorge Posada, and Bernie Williams, yet the Mets have still not retired Mike Piazza’s number, amongst others. The NY Post argues Piazza’s #31 should be next, followed by #8, 16, 17, and 18 because while the team has less trophies, fans still have our heroes.

All this as pitchers and catchers are set to report to Spring Training this Thursday. Baseball’s back! LET’S GO METS!
